Ryerson Community Welcome Picnic

What Was It?

A picnic to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year. Students, faculty and staff from across the University attended this picnic in the Quad. The Quad is Ryerson’s main green space area in the centre of campus. Facilitating interactions between students, faculty and staff, the picnic built Ryerson spirit and kicked off the beginning of a new academic year in a fun, casual and inclusive environment.

The entire Ryerson community was invited. The President, Executive Group, Senior Management, faculty and Staff assisted at the food and beverage tents and mingled with students.

Musical entertainment, carnival games along with a trampoline were on hand for entertainment and picnic tables with umbrellas dotted the grass. Students could enter a draw to win prizes. Complementary Ryerson swag (including water bottles) was handed out to students.

Free water was provided by the City of Toronto’s mobile water truck. Attendees were encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles. (As of September 2013 Ryerson became a bottled-water free university. The first university in Canada to do so.)
