What was it?
To recognize the valued contribution of retiring employees from the university. This celebration was held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in the Alumni Lounge and connected employees from various departments in an opportunity to celebrate their achievements together.
Retirees and their guests joined direct Managers, Deans and Directors along with the President, Chancellor, and Vice President’s who co-emcee the event. In an intimate and relaxed setting guests were acknowledged individually on stage and presented with a small parting gift.
For décor I decided to go with the traditional Ryerson colours of blue & gold. This was due to the nature of the event – I wanted to pay tribute to the Ryerson colours alongside the employees who were retiring. I designed floral arrangements in colours of the season and in complementary shades that also added a pop of colour against the linens. Enough flowers were ordered so that retirees could take an arrangement home. Hors d’oeuvres were passed and bar service was available. After the official program guests were invited to stay and watch a Ryerson Ram’s Men’s Hockey game in the comfort of the Alumni Lounge.
Working with the Recognition Project Lead in HR department; I managed and coordinated all event logistics, making this night a memorable one for the employees who retired from Ryerson.
